There is so much controversy over the legalization of marijuana, where it's legal and what the parameters are. Some states have voted to make the recreational use of weed legal. This would mean that at any given time you can possess a certain amount of the substance on your person and then a given amount at home. Other states have said that medical marijuana is legal but recreational use still illegal. Then the rest of the states have no laws legalizing the plant.

Here is the list of states in each category:

Legal Recreation

Alaska- 21+, buy or possess one ounce and six plants
Colorado- 21+, possess one ounce
Oregon- 21+, possess one ounce in public and eight ounces at home and four plants
Washington-  21+, possess once ounce
Washington D.C.- possess two ounces, six plants, cannot buy, smoke or sell anywhere                                   but in your home

Legalized Medical Use

Arizona,California, Connecticut, Delaware,Hawaii,Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachuset, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont

No Law Legalizing Use

Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming
