The annual Ultra Music Festival -- a gathering of the world's hottest DJs and EDM stars in Miami -- kicked off last night but it wasn't without hitches: The Miami New Times reports that several hundred attendees were injured last night, with 15 people needing to be hospitalized for more serious issues.

One female security guard is suffering severe head trauma and a broken leg after a mob of fans knocked her down as they were rushing a gate. A Miami Fire-Rescue spokesperson told the site, "They saw an opportunity to try to get in without paying. We found her on the ground, screaming in pain."

Lt. Ignatius Carroll continued, "She was doing what she was supposed to do, telling them to stop, when they pushed it down and it fell on top of her... They just trampled her."

Several hundred fans were treated for various injuries ranging from drug overdoses to injuries sustained from dancing, such as cuts and bruises. 15 people had injuries serious enough to be transported to the hospital. There were also 22 arrests made last night by the Miami Police.

Ultra Music Festival 2014 will feature major dance and EDM acts such as Tiesto, Krewella, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Zedd, as well as young rising stars. Avicii was previously announced to perform but had to cancel due to a health issue.

The festival continues all weekend and ends tomorrow, March 30.
