Technology is the star in the first 'Imitation Game' trailer, which previews Benedict Cumberbatch's upcoming turn as Alan Turing, the historic mathematician who cracked the German's Enigma code during WWII. Could this be Cumberbatch's chance for an Oscar? Granted it's early for speculation, but he is the perfect choice to play such a part.

During WWII, German forces were using a machine called "Enigma" to send encrypted messages. Basically, an operator would type a message into the device, which would then scramble it and display different letters of the alphabet. Turing is credited for cracking it and helping to end the war by what some say was two years. As the 'Imitation Game' trailer shows, there was, naturally, some drama going on behind the scenes among his colleagues. Eventually, Turing would be outed as gay, in a time which saw this as a scandal, and he would come to commit suicide.

Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard make up the remaining cast, but this just might be Cumberbatch's chance for an Oscar, given early interest. But, of course, there's also that other early contender, 'Foxcatcher,' to consider.

'The Imitation Game' will hit theaters on November 21.
