Denzel Washington returns to action in '‘The Equalizer' trailer, though he's a little slower than he used to be. Instead of taking out a room full of criminals in sixteen seconds it takes him nearly twenty. Maybe it's time to retire.

But, seriously, Washington looks in top form here as he plays a steely professional who doesn't necessarily want to unleash his asskicking talents, but when he accidentally roughs up a bunch of the East Coast hub of the Russian mob, well, it's going to get complicated. Helmed by Antoine Fuqua, who directed Washington to his Best Actor Oscar in 'Training Day,' the film also features Chloe Moretz, Melissa Leo, Martin Csokas, and Bill Pullman, and looks to be one of the best practical action movies in quite a while.

Here's the official synopsis:

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston.  When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help.  He is The Equalizer.

'The Equalizer' hits theaters on September 26.
