'Supernatural' fans were less than impressed when the current season finally debuted the potential 'Bloodlines' spinoff, chronicling the monster families running Chicago, but despite The CW's decision to pass on the pilot, the network isn't giving up just yet. CW heads confirmed that the long-running monster drama will try again next year, crafting another spinoff to extend the 'Supernatural' franchise.

In advance of its Upfront presentation, CW boss Mark Pedowitz confirmed the show's interest in developing another spinoff to reporters today, saying, "We believe there is a really good brand in 'Supernatural.' We felt the 'Supernatural' [spinoff pilot, "Bloodlines"] didn’t quite get there. ... We know we want to develop once more for next season a 'Supernatural' spinoff.”

For those who didn't tune in to the season's 20th episode and backdoor spinoff pilot, "Bloodlines" focused on Ennis Roth (Lucien Laviscount), who put his police-academy training to use as a monster hunter after his fiancée was killed in the crossfire of the monster war dominating Chicago. Melissa Roxburgh played leading lady Violet Durant, a member of the powerful werewolf pack who hides her true nature because of her forbidden love for family rival David (‘The Vampire Diaries‘ alum Nathan Buzulic).

Also cast in ‘Supernatural: Bloodlines’ was Danielle Savre as Margo, the acting head of the shapeshifter Hayden family, an ex-punk-rocker-turned-corporate-professional who feels threatened only by the return of her brother David. Stephen Martines played Detective Freddie Costa, a world-weary Chicago cop who acts as a mentor to leading man Ennis, but is also on the payroll of one of the powerful monster families. Finally, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star Sean Faris took the role of Julian Durant, the “savagely handsome, strong, arrogant” 20-something brother of Violet and nemesis to David.

We've included the 'Bloodlines' trailer again below (don't worry, it was pretty lame), but what do you think? Could 'Supernatural' be looking to turn its franchise weariness around in time for the main show's ultimate end? Who would you like to follow when The CW next attempts to spinoff 'Supernatural' into another series?
