Montana is Western, but not everyone in Big Sky Country listens to Country music. Only two country music singers make the 2023 Ten Most Popular Music Artists in Montana ranking.

Using Google Search Trends, analysts at Casino.com have ranked the most popular singers in each state. Taylor Swift takes the top spot in nearly a third of all states. In Montana, she's not in the top five.

1. Morgan Wallen

After a messy PR incident in January 2021 (where Wallen was caught on video using a racial slur while coming home from the bar), many in the industry wondered if his career was over. The singer made a public apology, took a trip to rehab, shaved off his mullet, and somehow bounced back bigger than before. Wallen is the most searched artist in Montana.

2. Luke Combs

Combs was already a big star in the country music scene, well before he covered Tracy Chapman's 1988 song, Fast Car. The cross-format popularity of his version has propelled Combs to even bigger stardom; he's preparing to launch a 2024 stadium tour that will sell out huge venues in major cities across the US.

My 19-year-old kid loves Drake, and so do countless others. Drake has reportedly sold over 170 million records worldwide, making him one of the biggest stars in music. He's the third most-searched artist in Montana.

5. Harry Styles

Styles is one member of the hugely popular boy band One Direction who has remained popular since the band split up in 2015 (the other being Niall Horan). Can anyone name the other three members? Styles has another thing in his favor when it comes to his internet popularity this year, his starring role in the film Don't Worry Darling.

6. Taylor Swift

Taylor is the most-searched artist in sixteen states. We get it. The Tour, the football star Boyfriend, the Movie, the endless re-releases of material she's already done once under a different record company. She's a global phenomenon. Perhaps in Montana, we're experiencing Swift fatigue, as she comes in at 6th place.

7. Bruce Springsteen

We're not sure why The Boss is one of the most searched artists in Montana in 2023. I mean, we love Born in the USA as much as the next red-blooded American, but Springsteen hasn't really been known for too many hits since his 1980s material. Did he do something political that ticked off Montanans? Did he play a secret show in Paradise Valley that we somehow didn't hear about?

8. Lil Baby

Atlanta rapper Lil Baby rose to fame in 2017 with a string of hits, including a collab with Drake. He's also been featured on the ridiculously popular video game Fortnite. For many artists, getting exposure on a video game soundtrack can help propel their careers.

9. Travis Scott

Travis Scott's name was in the national headlines two years ago, and not for a good reason. His Astroworld festival in Austin, TX turned into a disaster when 10 fans were killed and thousands were injured after the crowd rushed the stage. He recently told People the catastrophe still weighs heavy on him.

10. Justin Bieber

Ever since he first hit the scene in 2009, Bieber continues to crank out pop hits. The teen idol sensation has remained relevant as his fans have grown up with him for the past 14 years.
