Before Jeff Ament moved to Seattle and formed Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam, he grew up in Big Sandy, Montana.  After high school, he enrolled at the University of Montana in Missoula and attempted to make the basketball team as a walk on.  Now, Montana's native son is launching another project to build skateboard parks across the state.

The latest skatepark will be built just south of Missoula in Stephensville, MT.  After community organizers were able to raise over $60,000 for the project, Ament pledged to pick up the tab for the rest of the project, which is said to include "a bowl unlike anything that's been seen in Montana before".

It's a cause Ament has been working on for years.  In conjunction with Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation, Ament has contributed to the funding of skateboard parks in Missoula, Great Falls, Polson, and Browning.
