Between their hottest member suddenly quitting the group in the middle of a world tour to all that now-confirmed unplanned baby drama, you’d think One Direction would succumb to the haters and go on an indefinite hiatus. But somehow, not even the most blatant signs of a possible -- and, frankly, expected -- implosion could drag them down (sorry).

According to Billboard, One Direction may have the highest Hot 100 debut of 2015 with their surprise single “Drag Me Down,” which is set to enter the chart somewhere in the top five.

“Drag Me Down,” the lead single off the group's forthcoming fifth studio album, has been projected to move around 340,000 copies by the end of the week (Aug. 6). In addition to actual sales, streams and airplay (both of which now officially contribute to chart positions) should propel the single high up on the Hot 100 chart.

"Drag Me Down" is already a vast improvement over the group's sales for "Steal My Girl," One Direction's lead single for the criminally under-promoted Four. According to Headline Planet, “Steal My Girl” only moved around 186,000 copies in its first week, a little more than half of what "Drag Me Down" is expected to sell.

It looks like their Beyonce-inspired, middle-of-the-night release was a good move. If they were really smart, they'd put out an accompanying music video as soon as humanly possible.
