No One is Moving To Montana, Thank God – Who Moved Where in America This Year?

A national moving company unveiled the results of their annual moving study, where they look at people who moved from one state to another last year. And while some residents complain that Californians are taking over our neck of the woods, it’s really not as bad as it may seem. For five straight years, Washington D.C. had the most people moving in, compared to people leaving. The state of New Jersey had the most people moving out, compared to the number moving in.

These are the five places that had the most people moving IN, compared to how many moved out:

#1.)  The District of Columbia:  64% of all moves involving D.C. were people moving there.  Only 36% were people LEAVING for someplace else.

#2.)  Oregon:  61% of moves were people moving INTO the state.

#3.)  Nevada:  58% of moves were people moving INTO the state.

#4.)  North Carolina:  56% of moves were people coming in.

#5.)  South Carolina:  55% of moves were inbound.

And these are the five places that had the most people moving OUT, compared to how many moved in:

#1.)  New Jersey:  62% of movers left the state.  38% were coming TO New Jersey.

#2.)  Illinois:  60% of moves were people leaving.

#3.)  West Virginia:  58% of movers were on their way out.

#4.)  New York:  58% of movers left.

#5.)  New Mexico:  58% of moves were outbound.
