I recently went to San Diego to visit my best friend. While there, I went to the beach, checked out the model train museum and hit up a few bars with my buddy.

While at his house he brought up that while cleaning and packing for his move to Dallas he came across pictures from middle school that he threw away. I said, "Dean, why would you throw old pictures like that away?" He informed me that it was clutter.

A little later he got the pictures out of the trash, handed them to me and said, "this is what I threw away." So, I go through the pictures out of curiosity to see if they were pictures of anyone I knew. A few pictures in, I find a picture of ME.

"Dean, why did you throw this picture of me away?" I asked.

He said it was clutter. His brother had my back and said it was a pretty crappy thing to do. I then asked his brother for his Mom's number so I could tell her what he did so that she could yell at him.

She did exactly that, told him that I was his best friend and he should have that picture framed and put on the wall instead of the trash. Later that day he told me he didn't know that picture was in there. I was like uh huh, then why didn't you tell me that to begin with? Instead you let me get all mad about it.

So, I decided to keep my picture from middle school so that it didn't end up in the trash again. Before I left he gave me a necklace. He said he got it because no one picked it up at where he worked and he didn't want it. He had a chance to redeem himself and be like, hey bro.. I wanted you to have this necklace. Instead he just told me he didn't want it and I could have it. That, is my best friend.
