According to a new study from the website Wallet Hub, Montana is the second worst state in the country for teenage drivers. Montana also ranks 49th out of 50 for safety conditions, 48th for the number of driving laws and 48th for Teen DUI rates. The most sobering statistic of all, Montana has the second highest rate of teen driver fatalities, per capital.

The article 2015′s Best and Worst States for Teen Drivers analyzed several factors that affect teens behind the wheel, including safety conditions, driving laws, insurance premiums and the cost of auto repairs.

There is one bright side of the study for teen drivers in Montana. Montana has the fourth lowest average car insurance premium increase in the country for parents who add a teenage driver to their policy.

New York was ranked as the best state for teen drivers followed by Oregon, Massachusetts, Hawaii and Delaware. South Dakota was ranked the worst state for teenagers to drive in, followed by Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming and Missouri. See the full results of the study here.
