Can you imagine Katy Perry’s name in bright lights over Broadway?

Katy definitely can! We could soon see the singer starring in a musical version of the iconic ’90s movie ‘Clueless,’ according to director Amy Heckerling.

Though it is still in the “really, really early, early stages,” Heckerling revealed to Vulture that she is currently working on translating her popular film into a Broadway musical. She’s already written song lyrics and a book for the project.

Casting the part of Cher, originally played to perfection by Alicia Silverstone, would be no easy task. Those are big, designer brand shoes to fill. Luckily, there is a hot name that’s already gunning for the role.

“Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” said Heckerling, though she added that the 'Dark Horse' singer’s hectic schedule might make it difficult. “Maybe Iggy wants to do it!”

The director is referring to Iggy Azalea, who paid tribute to ‘Clueless’ in the Beverly Hills-set video for her hit ‘Fancy’ featuring Charli XCX.

Personally, we’d be happy with either pop star!

What do you think, PopCrushers? Would Katy or Iggy make a better Cher?
