They have become as essential to many of us as a smartphone or wallet, But tablets may also be wreaking havoc with our necks, experts have warned.

A new study found that devices such as iPads put three times as much strain on our neck muscles than desktop computers.

And tablet use has rocketed in the past few years. Last year in the US, for example, 42 per cent of under 18 owned one and more than half of 35-49 year olds used them regularly.

So if you own a tablet/ipad or your kids do it’s good to practice laying on your back or taking a break from using it.
