The Centers for Disease Control crunched the numbers and found that big time boozing doesn’t just mess with your personal and professional life it also puts a damper on the economy at large, to the tune of $249 billion.

 

That’s a quarter of a TRILLION dollars to you and me.

Most of these costs are due to reduced workplace productivity, crime, and the cost of treating people for health problems caused by excessive drinking.

One of the study’s authors admitted that this number went up when we were all dealing with that recession between 2006 and 2010.

But now that the recession is pretty much over, those numbers have stayed the same.

Lots of people are still drinking and lots of people are still dragging when they come into the office the next day. (Quartz)
