Fishing the Bitterroot River

Well since Jimmy Kimmel and Huey Lewis were recently out on the Bitterroot river I thought I better go out and check out the Skwala hatch. 

The Bitterroot river has 300-500 fish per mile supposedly and is the third most fished river in the state ( third to the Madison and Big Horn). There are a ton of Whitefish in the Bitterroot right now. The Skwala hatch has started and dry flying is on.

This time I was using nymphs and it was hot as well. The day wasn't quite right in the morning for dry flying. They were mainly liking the ever effective San Juan worm. Also working was girdle bugs and stone fly patterns were also useful.
