I have a ton of Kirkland brand spices…Costco Wholesale is warning its customers to not use black pepper sold at its stores because it might be contaminated with salmonella.

NBC News Connecticut reported  ” The move came after FDA officials detected Salmonella Duisburg, a rare strain, in Kirkland Signature Coarse Ground Malabar Black Pepper. No illnesses have been linked to the pepper. A recent report by the FDA showed that nearly 7 percent of spices imported to the U.S. are contaminated with salmonella”

The 12-ounce containers of Kirkland Signature Coarse Malabar Pepper were sold exclusively at Costco nationwide between April and June of 2014.

The UPC code you are looking for is 096619164998 and the “Best Before” date of March 2017.

This hasn’t been the first time over the summer they recalled them as well and now another 5,000 cases have possible contamination. Find our more here.
