By now, you've probably heard us talking a lot about Billings Baconfest.  Here's another taste of what's cooking at the Holiday Inn Montana Convention Center on November 15th.

The Billings Food Bank will be on hand handing out free Baconfest t-shirts to the first 500 people who donate a can or non perishable food item ($$ is always welcome and so are turkeys).  Bill Jensen, who is a Chef for the Food Bank and an instructor for their Culinary Skills Training Course at the Fortin Culinary Center, will be at Baconfest cooking up some tasty dishes.

Bill's enlisting the students in his cooking class to help prepare three items.  They'll be serving samples of Bacon Mac n Cheese, along with Bacon Corn Chowder.  And here's where it gets crazy.  They'll also be preparing a limited number of Bacon Apple Pies.

According to Bill, a Bacon Apple Pie is similar to a regular pie. However, his recipe calls for bacon strips instead of the traditional lattice crust.  I've never had a Bacon Apple Pie, but I'm going out on a limb and predicting it will incredible (potentially life changing).

Not only will we be enjoying bacon inspired dishes from many of Billings' best restaurants, meat markets and food trucks, but we'll also be helping the Billings Food Bank load up their pantries for the holidays.
