American Idol might be nearing its expiration date, but one of the show's most notable runners-up hopes it's still fresh enough to produce a few particular collaborations.

Adam Lambert, who finished in second place on Season 8, stopped by Bravo's Watch What Happens Live last night. Between fielding questions that addressed his favorite tour spots and all that "Ghost Town" controversy ("I had, like, a momentary freakout," he admitted), a caller asked which Idol exports would make the singer's list of dream duet partners. As far as Lambert was concerned, the answered lay exclusively in a few of the the competition's leading ladies.

"Vocally, I think both Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are incredible, and they're still kicking, and they're still doing their thing," the vocal powerhouse told show host Andy Cohen. "I was also a big Fantasia [Barrino] fan. I thought she was unbelievable."

Still, for the success of Lambert's three picks, Idol finalists haven't been guaranteed careers by any means — and this, the belter noted, is a testament to what comes after host Ryan Seacrest officially signs off each season.

"I think a lot of the show has to do with timing; it has to do with what you do after the show's over, which is really vital, because it's tricky," he said. "The music industry is not easy."
