It has been proven time and time again, that we here in Big Sky Country love football and beer. With the big game on the way, nothing goes better with your big game party, like a Montana made beer. With breweries all across the Treasure State, we have a great selection of homegrown craft beers. The hardest part is deciding which one to bring to your next game day party. After sampling a healthy amount of Montana's "barley pop," I feel I can help make an educated guess.

  • Bayern Dopplebock

This is one of my favorites from Bayern. It never seems to disappoint. It is a dark beer with a doughy and fruity taste. But with an ABV of 8.0%, it is a beer that I will have to share a six pack with a friend. If not, you will find me cussing and screaming at every flag that gets thrown during the game.

  • Kettlehouse Cold Smoke Scotch Ale

Cold Smoke is one of my standbys for just about any food pairing. With the amount of food served on game day, it is hard to find a beer that can cover all genres of what is on the table. Cold Smoke seems to complement just about everything. Don't let the dark color fool you, it is not too bitter and not to sweet. With an ABV of 6.5 percent, it will be having you do your finest end zone dance in no time.

  • Harvest Moon Pigs Ass Porter

I have just recently fell in love with different porters from around the state of Montana. But, one stands above the rest when it comes to flavor. Pigs Ass Porter is creamy. smooth and "chocolaty." This is a great beer for swigging when you want to discuss the poor call from the referees. You almost feel smarter after having one. With an ABV of 5%, you can enjoy your beer without worrying about getting too opinionated.
