One thousand Italian musicians are so desperate to see the sweat glint off Dave Grohl's brow that they spent the better part of a year learning how to play a single Foo Fighters song, all at once, in an attempt to get the band to play a show in Cesena, Italy.

According to the Rockin’ 1000’s website: "The Foo Fighters are not in Romagna since 1997, it’s time to get them back, but we need a crazy idea. We have to organize something that kicks ass worldwide and can be seen by Dave Grohl: We will ask one thousand rockers to play one of their songs, all together and at the same time.”

Truthfully, we were expecting a disaster. Gathering 1,000 people together in any capacity is enough of a struggle on its own, let alone trying to get that many people to play the same song at the same time and somehow have it not sound the way hot garbage smells.

But their "Learn to Fly" cover actually comes together wonderfully, obvious song choice and all. (Sidenote: Dave, if you're reading, feel free to drop “Learn to Fly” from all future Foo Fighters set lists in favor of a literally anything else off There Is Nothing Left to Lose. We suggest "Aurora.")

Once the song concludes, the man behind the intense cover, Fabio Zaffagini, addresses the Foo Fighters directly, saying, "Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true, but it’s a land of passion and creativity. What we did here is a huge, huge miracle...One thousand rockers that came from all over the nation at their own expense, and they just did one song — your song. We ask you, the Foo Fighters, to come play for us.”

Whether the Foo Fighters will grant Zaffagnini and his small army their most fervent desire remains to be seen, but we wouldn't put it past Good Guy Dave Grohl to grace them all with his presence. After all, stranger things have happened: Foo Fighters agreed to play a show in Richmond, Virginia, when a group of fans launched a Crowdfunded campaign to get the band there. The campaign succeeded in raising over $70,000, the Foo Fighters took them up on their offer and Sept. 17 was declared Foo Fighters day forevermore in Richmond, as per super-fan Mayor Dwight C. Jones’ instatement.

Your move, Dave.
